How to join

If you think that Freemasonry could be for you, contact us and we can arrange to meet you informally, probably over a cup of coffee or other drink at a mutually convenient location. You will be able to ask any questions that you may have.

To become a member of ‘The Crest of Mount Edgcumbe Lodge 7431’ (or indeed any Lodge) you must satisfactorily meet specific criteria before you make a formal application, this can be explained at an initial meeting. First and foremost, you have to be of mature age – considered to be 21 years of age or older (in some very special cases it is possible to join at a younger age); all applicants must apply freely and not be coerced or forced into applying. As Freemasons, our reputation is very important to us, so the reputation and moral standing of applicants is also of importance; a belief in a ‘higher power’ or ‘Supreme Being’ whatever form that may take.

Once you are sure that you wish to take the step of joining, formal applications will usually be considered by a membership committee, and every candidate will be interviewed.

This process may sound long and over complex however, we want to ensure that you join a Masonic Lodge where you enjoy the experience and enjoy being a Freemason for many years to come.
