]]>Worshipful Brother David Wilmot was installed into the Chair for the third time, the first being in 1986 and the second being in 2013. The assembled members and guests were treated to a super ceremony, David was ably assisted by the Past Masters and officers of Crest of Mount Edgcumbe and afterwards everyone enjoyed the traditional carvery supper.
During the meeting it was agreed that the Crest of Mount Edgcumbe Lodge would donate £1000 towards the Metropolitan Grand Lodge’s current initiative of raising £3m towards a new London Air Ambulance , you can find out more by visiting www.londonmasons.org.uk/news

]]>My Father proposed me into the Crest of Mount Edgcumbe Lodge No 7431 and I became a Freemason in December 1975.
My Lodge is special, I am sure many Freemasons say that! As well as giving regular support to charities we support one another in good times and in difficult times. Sometimes words of comfort, advice or empathy are all that are required; other times we ‘huddle’ round and look for practical ways to support.
I have just experienced the closeness and love between the members of my Lodge.
My Brother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia some months ago. He has suffered several strokes and, a recent seizure has left him very dependent upon my sister. He requires support with dressing and undressing; washing; climbing the stairs; even making a cup of tea. He cannot be left on his own and has had to give up driving; his memory is showing the distinct signs of worsening dementia.
After removing the bath and providing my Brother-in-law with a walk in shower, I asked the Lodge Almoner to see if the MCF would support the installation of a Stair Lift.
Sadly, this request did not meet the criteria laid down within the MCF. My tenacious Lodge Almoner then applied to the Grand Charity for matched funding. My Lodge came together and were unanimous in their support, they pledged £2000 towards the Stair Lift.
Unfortunately, the application for matched funding was unsuccessful because, despite my sister being the daughter of a Freemason, my Brother-in-Law is not a Freemason.
With the £2,000 pledged by my Lodge, and with my own financial support, the Stair Lift has been installed and has already made such a difference. My Brother-in-Law no longer struggles up and down the stairs and my sister no longer has to walk behind or in front of him to prevent him falling.
The support from my Lodge has made me proud and thankful to be a member of such a band of Brothers known as the Crest of Mount Edgcumbe Lodge 7431.
Here is a very happy Brother-in-Law on his stair lift
